Girls in Computer Science
The project Girls in Computer Science is an initiative designed to provide training for women in the field of computing. The project is now in its 2nd edition, with all the funding coming from POATEK. The first edition, which started in 2019, has awarded financial aid to two students in the Computer Science program. Also in this first edition, the project awarded a full scholarship for a Master's student in the Graduate Program in Computer Science at PUCRS. In the second edition, which began in Aug 2021, the company is awarding financial aid to three other students in the Computer Science program. In addition to financial support, the students are being tutored by a faculty member and a professional from the awarding company, as they receive career counseling and CV writing orientation.
School of Technology Girls
The project is intended to assist, provide training and advance the feeling of belonging for women in the areas of Exact Sciences and Technologies at the School of Technology of PUCRS. Under the initiative, a number of events, training sessions and lectures are held with reference women in their fields to encourage other women in these areas and help them to get into the labor market or the academia. They also go to High Schools to talk and provide career counseling to students. Email: [email protected]
Girls in Science
