ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is a vibrant multi-cultural university established post 1992. It is home to world leading research centres, international campuses and partnerships around the world, as well as the Institute for University to Business Education. It has four schools, School of Computing, Engineering and built Environment, Business, Health and Life Sciences and GCU London. GCU has over 160 courses which span undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research, as well as CPD and professional qualifications, all focus on employability with 84% of its programme accredited by professional bodies.

GCU commitments to gender equality and supporting the advancement and promotion of the careers of women in STEM has been formally recognised by attaining Advance HE’s Silver Athena Swan Award in 2021. The School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment has Silver Award and the School of Business a Bronze Award.

GCU is the first foreign, higher education institution to be awarded a Charter to deliver degrees in New York, with the establishment of Glasgow Caledonian New York College. GCU also have partners in Oman, Bangladesh and Mauritius. With student population of 21,000 including 5,000 international students based in Glasgow, London, New York and at our international partnerships.

GCU is a top modern university in Scotland with research power (REF, 2014). have been ranked amongst the top 50 universities in the world for social impact , and top 5 for gender equality and reducing inequalities (THE, 2021) (compared to 12th last year), first in Scotland and first in the UK; responsible consumption and production, ranking joint 10th in the world, second in Scotland and sixth in the UK; and promoting decent work and economic growth, ranking 24th in the world, first in Scotland and fifth in the UK. Our focused research aims to build inclusive societies and healthy lives in sustainable environments, leading to be in the Top 20 in the world for allied health at world leading standard and built environment research impact (REF, 2014). GCU is within the top 50 training providers in the UK.
