Aline Cristiane Pan has a degree in Physics, a Master’s in Materials Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and a PhD in Photovoltaic Solar Energy from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She has over 20 years of experience in the area of Photovoltaic Solar Energy. She coordinated / designed the Certificate Program in Renewable Energies at PUCRS and served as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Sciences. She also taught in two other certificate programs: Quality Management for the Environment and Renewable Energies, both at PUCRS, for 8 years.
She currently coordinates and serves as a faculty in the National Professional Master’s in Physics Teaching and a Professor in the Energy Management Engineering program at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She has published more than 60 articles in Brazil and overseas in the area of photovoltaic solar energy. She has advised / co-advised more than 40 graduate and undergraduate students. She is a member of CAPES’ Work Group “Gender Equality”. She is the co-founder and coordinator of the Rede Brasileira de Mulheres na Energia Solar (Rede MESol).
Aline Pan considers herself a curious person and does not like routines. Learning Physics in High School made her days more challenging and stimulating. While she was working on her college degree in Physics, Aline was invited to join a research group on solar energy. Since then, she has been working with photovoltaic solar energy.
“Diversity allows for the emergence of an “innovation dividend”. This dividend converges into smarter and more creative teams, and opens the door to new discoveries and solutions, by expanding points of view. It is imperative to put science, technology, engineering and energy in the voice of women as I want social, political, economic and energy change towards a fair and sustainable model”.
