Symposium on testing and reliability of integrated systems to occur in Northeast of Brazil
The Latin American Testing Symposium (LATS), promoted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), has come to its 20th edition in 2019. In the previous edition held in Santiago, Chile, Professor Leticia Maria Bolzani Poehls was invited to take part in the Steering Committee and has been elected General Chair for the next edition. This is the second time Letícia serves as General Chair. The first time was in 2016, in Foz do Iguaçu. The 2020 event will occur from March 30th to Abril 2nd in Maceió.
The General Chair organizes every stage of the event: selection of the site, dates, submission of invitations to all members of organizing committee, supervision of the event’s technical activities and social events, among other things. She is also going to be responsible to raise funds from development agencies from Brazil as well as technology companies.
LATS was created in 2000 by a group of researchers from the USA, Mexico, France and Brazil, including PUCRS professor Fabian. In the 2018 edition, held in São Paulo, Professor Fabian Luis Vargas served as General Chair. PUCRS provides support to the organization every time its faculty serves as General Chair.
LATS is one of a number of international conferences embraced by IEE’s Test Technology Technical Council (TTTC), devoted to the area of testing and reliability of integrated systems. All across the globe, there is a number of symposia, namely the Asian Test Symposium (ATS), and the European Test Symposium (ETS), among others. So, LATS features as the Latin American version of the conference. It is an international event endorsed by IEEE that brings together researchers specialized in testing and reliability of integrated systems from all over the world. It occurs alternately in Brazil and another Latin American country. “We usually rely on the financial support from the School of Technology in the editions that occur in Brazil. The funding benefits the students of the graduate programs who will be presenting papers in the event”, Letícia says.
