Introduction

Full Professor of Immunology, School of Health and Life Sciences (PUCRS). Coordinates the Laboratory of Immunobiology (School of Health and Life Sciences). Senior instructor of the graduate programs in Biomedical Gerontology (CAPES 7) and Cellular and Molecular Biology (CAPES 6) at PUCRS. He is graduated in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1995), PhD in Neuroimmunology (University of Bristol, UK, 1999) and did a post-doctorate training in Cellular Immunology (Université Paris V, 2008). He has published more than 120 articles in international scientific journals and has an H index of 30. He is a senior fellow of the CNPq federal agency (category 1B). He has experience in the areas of Neuroimmunology and Immunosenescence. He studies the psychoneuroendocrine mechanisms of early immune system aging in various human populations, including healthy older people, rheumatoid arthritis patients, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder.
