Introduction
Jairo Andrade received a BSc. Eng in Civil Engineering in 1994 from Universidade of Pernambuco, Brazil and MSc. and PhD. degrees in Civil Engineering in 1997 and 2001, respectively, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil. Currently he is a full professor in the Graduate Program in Materials Engineering and Technology, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PGETEMA/PUCRS), Brazil. His research interests include product development, systems reliability, construction materials, durability, and service life modeling.
