In November, School of Health and Life Sciences professor Angelo Brandelli Costa went on a Work Mission Abroad at the Universität Duisburg-Essen (Uni-Due), in Germany, through PUCRS’s CAPES-PrInt Program. This opportunity enabled the strengthening of collaboration ties between the Graduate Programs (PPG) in Psychology in PUCRS and in the German university, through an agreement signed in 2021 by both partner institutions.
Through the priority theme World in Motion, the professor was able to present, in a science seminar, ongoing researches from his research group at PUCRS, regarding the health of the LGBT population in the context of applied psychology. In addition, work meetings were held to discuss co-authorship in future scientific papers, and a timeline was arranged for two doctorate students from the PPG in Psychology at PUCRS to go to Uni-Due in 2023. Lastly, the professor also discussed the opportunity of a post-doctoral German student coming to PUCRS and the possibility of publishing in German a book he wrote about prejudice.
PUCRS and Uni-Due
In 2018, Brandelli went to Uni-Due to officialize professor Gisela Steins’s, specialist in social psychology, invitation to join projects developed at PUCRS. The goal was to start developing continuous exchanges with professors and students from both institutions. During this first mission, the professor also gave a science seminar along with a PUCRS Masters degree student who was also in Germany at the time.
In 2021, the professor gave a 20-days class at Uni-Due, entitled Psychology of Prejudice together with the Fakultät für Bildungswissenschaften Institut für Psychologie. This initiative was supported by the Internationalen UDE Gastdozierendenprogramm program and included 41 masters and doctorate students from different IES post-graduate programs. In this way, on this same year, an agreement was signed between both universities.
