Earlier in December 2019, PUCRS opened its doors to Dr Damien Biau, a Visiting Professor, from Arts et Métiers ParisTech, France, on the Institutional Project of Internationalization (PUCRS-PrInt). Biau delivered seminars and a short course addressing the following topics: self-similar flows; the trajectory on the separatrix in the transitional boundary layer flow; and linear stability theory. The activities are embraced by the cooperation project Technology, Energy and Natural Resources: New Paths to Sustainability, under the priority area Technology and Biodiversity: Sustainability, Energy and the Environment.
Bruno Farenzena, a PhD student in the Graduate Program in Materials Engineering and Technology, who is being advised by Dr Eduardo Cassel, claims that this partnership with the French researcher is not something new. Farenzena has completed a mobility program in France: “When we got funding to support Biau’s visit, we invited him to continue the existing partnership and to advance new collaborations with other LaSET and PGETEMA students”, he claims. In the future, the idea is to continue working on the development of hydrodynamic instabilities in density currents.
