Augusto Alvim, coordinator of the Business School’s Graduate Program in Development Economics, went on a work mission at the New Castle University (United Kingdom), through PUCRS’s Capes PrInt Program. The purpose of the visit was to reinforce ties with the British university in order to develop partnership projects.
The professor held meetings with professor Carmen Hubbard from the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences and discussed cooperation agreements for doctorate students from the program to obtain double titles. With this opportunity, Alvim also addressed the Globalization course, ongoing in the PPG in Development Economics in 2022, and taught by professor Carmen.
For the coming year, there are already ongoing projects, such as PUCRS professors’ and students’ mobility for brief researches in the British university, the arrival of professors for seminars and short courses at PUCRS, and the preparation of a special issue on Brazilian agribusiness for the EuroChoices (2017) magazine. PUCRS and NewCastle University have begun the process of renewing the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding), which allows for the mobility of students and professors between the universities.
Professor Augusto went on the mission through the International Cooperation Project, “Macro and microeconomic aspects associated with economic, social, human and environmental development,” coordinated by professor Edimara Luciano and associated with the priority theme “World in Motion: Individuals and Society.”
