Linnaeus University mission strengthens partnership in sustainability

School of Technology professor, Dr Rodrigo Iglesias, went to Linnaeus University, in the city of Kalmar, Sweden, in support of the Institutional Project of Internationalization (PUCRS-PrInt). The lecturer had the support of Dr Marcelo Ketzer, who has served as a professor at PUCRS and is now a member of the faculty of the Swedish university.
Iglesias and Ketzer have been working together since 2017. This partnership has resulted in a number of joint publications. During the mission, Iglesias had the opportunity to learn about the structure of the Swedish institution. He also to pave the way for a student in the Graduate Program in Engineering and Materials Technology (PGETEMA) to do a doctoral internship at the Swedish institution. In addition, Dr Renata Medina is expected to go to Linnaeus next year.
During his visit to the country, the Iglesias presented the PUCRS-PrInt opportunities to the International Office representatives and faculty of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences of the institution. They also discussed funding possibilities through CAPES and STINT (Swedish funding agency).
Iglesias is embraced by the cooperation project Technology, Energy and Natural Resources: New Paths to Sustainability, which is coordinated by professor Dr Eduardo Cassel and embraced under the priority area Technology and Biodiversity: Sustainability, Energy and the Environment. His research looks at carbon management and planning strategies to harness energy resources.
