Lecture | Transformation of Matter by High-Energy Ions
French scholar Marcel Toulemonde, from the Center for Research on Ions Materials and Photonics (CIMAP), comes to the University through PUCRS-PrInt
On October 8, at 11 AM, visiting professor Marcel Toulemonde from the Center for Research on Ions Materials and Photonics (CIMAP), France, will deliver the lecture Transformation of Matter by High-Energy Ions: the effect of high density of electronic excitation at the nanometer scale. The event will take place in Building 32, room 517 of PUCRS Campus (Av. Ipiranga, 6681) and comprises the Institutional Project of Internationalization (PUCRS-Print).
The researcher will talk about a new process model to be developed to quantify the size of an ion track. The model can be applied to any material subjected to fast heavy-ion irradiation (space components, nuclear fuel, nuclear waste, biological material and cancer therapy) and can also be used to model materials at the nanoscale. The lecture is open to the general public and prior registration is not required. It will be delivered in English, without translation.
