Lecture | Human rights, violence and technopolitics in the age of social media
Manuel Jesús Sabariego Gómez, from Universidad de Sevilla, to deliver lecture on Oct 7
On Oct 7, at 7 PM, Visiting Professor Manuel Jesús Sabariego Gómez, from Universidad de Sevilla (Spain) and Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal), will be delivering the lecture Human Rights, Violence and Technopolitics in the age of Social Media. The session will occur at Room 1035 of Building 11 on the Main Campus (Av. Ipiranga, 6681) and is being offered in support of the Institutional Project of Internationalization (PUCRS-PrInt).
The researcher will talk about technopolitics, known as the appropriation of information technologies by social movements for political purposes and their impacts on the institutional sphere of technological transition. This occurs both in electoral campaigns and political agendas. It is also used as a communication strategy and has become a new way for research in social movements, violence and human rights. The session is open to internal and external audiences. No early registration is required. The lecture will be delivered in English and no interpreting will be provided.
