Earlier in June, School of Humanities Professor Dr Antonio de Ruggiero, joined a mission in Europe under the PUCRS-PrInt (Call 02/2019 – Work Missions Abroad). He coordinates the project Migrations: Historical and Conceptual Perspectives and Analysis of Contemporary Phenomena, under the priority theme World in Motion: Individuals and Society.
In the first part of the mission, Ruggiero attended an international congress at the University of Groningen, in the Netherlands. The congress Culture-historical relations between Italy and Latin America aimed at strengthening and consolidating interdisciplinary studies within a network of European and South American scholars committed to studying the historical and cultural relationship between Southern Europe and Latin America. In addition, he had the chance to meet with professors of the universities of Groningen, Nantes (France) and Calabria (Italy), who are part of the cooperation project of PUCRS-PrInt, coordinated by Ruggiero.
In Groningen, professors Claudia Musa Fay and Ruggiero participated in an international congress.
In the second part of the mission, Ruggiero conducted a technical visit to the Universitá degli Studi del Molise (UniMol), in Italy, which is a partner of the project. The meeting aimed to identify initiatives to consolidate and promote the partnership between the research structures of the two universities. “The goals is to produce better result findings in the ongoing investigations and to identify new research perspectives to strengthen the transnational dimension of historical research, especially through the consolidation of the research networks”, he added.
