The professor and researcher from the School of Humanities Lilian Cristine Hübner went, in December, to the Université de Montréal (UdeM) and to the Université Laval (ULaval) in Canada, through PUCRS’s CAPES-PrInt Program (PUCRS-PrInt). The professor went on a work mission to the institutions to develop studies and publications, in addition to start new joint researches.
Among the professional and academic activities, work meetings were held at the UdeM, with the research group of the professor from the School of Medicine Karine Marcotte, who works in the Speech Therapy course. What was especially discussed was the multidisciplinary and multicenter research involving UdeM and Brazilian universities in the field of cognitive-linguistic stimulation, as well as the possibility of co-advising a student from PUCRS who will take their sandwich doctorate in the Canadian university.
In addition to the research meetings, professor Lilian met with UdeM’s Vice-President’s Office for International Affairs to further strengthen the long-standing partnership between both institutions, based on the discussion of new funding and training possibilities for professors and students in different modalities, including student and researcher mobility between the universities.
On the mission, the professor also held work meetings at ULaval, in Quebec City, with researcher from the School of Medicine Maximiliano Wilson, in addition to meetings with the Internationalization Division to reinforce and enhance the partnership between the institutions. With professor Maximiliano, co-advising, articles and ongoing researches were discussed, in addition to the joint scientific project developed by a sandwich doctorate student from PUCRS who is currently at the Canadian institution through PUCRS-PrInt.
Partnership between PUCRS and UdeM
The partnership with UdeM was originated with a dialogue which began in 2005, when researcher Lilian took her sandwich doctorate as a CAPES grant holder. From then on, academic and research collaboration was maintained between the universities, creating the opportunity for joint events, co-advising, work mission and sandwich doctorates of students from PUCRS, as well as Canadian professors’ missions in Brazil and publications in national and international journals and book chapters.
According to the professor, they were ten days of hard work, both for the monitoring and projection of researches with Canadian colleagues, and for planning with the internationalization divisions of the universities to reinforce and enhance the established partnerships. “PUCRS-PrInt has been crucial for reinforcing partnerships between our researchers from PUCRS and the international universities we collaborate with, because it allows is to strengthen research and appropriation of knowledge by students and researchers, which causes social impact and promotes the international projection of the university,” she points out.
