Researcher from the School of Humanities works as a visiting professor at the University of Lisbon, Portugal
The Graduate Program in History has several projects developed in partnership with the Portuguese educational institution
Luciano Aronne de Abreu, Professor at PUCRS School of Humanities, is working as a Visiting Professor at the University of Lisbon (ULISBOA) in Portugal, as part of PUCRS’ Institutional Project of Internationalization (PUCRS-PrInt). The researcher arrived in September to develop activities with the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS) of the Portuguese institution, researching in places such as the National Library of Portugal, the National Archive of Torre do Tombo, the Newspaper Archive of Lisbon, and the Library of the Office of Corporate Studies of the ICS.
The partnership between the Graduate Program in History and the University of Lisbon is based on several actions in cooperation with Professor Abreu, including research projects and the publication of books in partnership with international publishers. Besides, the professor develops joint actions with the Research Networks for the Study of Fascism (REFAT) and Corporatism (NETCOR), in which he participates, also coordinating the Brazilian hub. For his role in this international collaboration, the professor was invited to spend a semester as a visiting professor at the Portuguese institution.
Among the activities in Portugal, the professor has held working meetings with professors and researchers from the ICS and other institutions. He will also give seminars at the Institute of Social Sciences and participate in conferences at several Portuguese universities and research institutions, including the Universities of Lisbon, Coimbra and Braga.
According to the professor, the partnership between PUCRS and the ICS of ULISBOA has been very important and productive in terms of exchange of professors between the institutions, development of research projects and publication of international works:
“There is great affinity between the interests of professors from both Institutions, especially regarding the study of issues related to the authoritarian regimes of Vargas and Salazar, fascism, and corporatism as a model of political and social organization and economic development in their countries. There is great potential for further development, including in terms of student exchange and double-degree doctorates”, highlights the professor.
Through PUCRS’ CAPES-PrInt Program, Professor Abreu develops his activities under the International Cooperation Project Macro- and Microeconomic Aspects Associated with Economic, Social, Human and Environmental Development, coordinated by Prof. Edimara Luciano, linked to the priority theme World in Motion: Individuals and Society.
