Its basic purposes is to innovate and meet the demands of the Brazilian market, aiming to help professionals and companies that work with measuring environmental, occupational, automotive and machine noise levels.
All professionals involved in the field of occupational safety or those working with acoustic comfort, environmental engineering, etc. use a sound level meter, analyzer, microphone or noise dosimeter. The reliability and traceability of these measurements is essential in issuing measurement reports, seeking acoustic treatment or preventive solutions for human hearing and, as such, these professionals will always have queries and doubts about the validity of measurement results. This type of guarantee can only be provided by calibration using the correct measuring process.
It is important to note that in accordance with NBR 10151, the standard that governs noise measurement for community comfort, legal reports and CONTRAN Resolution No. 204/06 (measuring the volume and frequency of sounds produced by equipment used in vehicles) must be performed using equipment calibrated by INMETRO or an RBC laboratory.
The laboratory also maintains international standards of excellence and reliability, with an automated calibration system (electroacoustics bench) providing greater agility and confidence in calibration. The traceability of this laboratory is obtained directly from the INMETRO Acoustics and Vibration Laboratory.
The Electroacoustics Laboratory was founded in 2004 with the support of the TIB program (Basic industrial Technology) through the “Fundo Verde e Amarelo”, and was accredited by RBC/Cgcre in early 2005.
The laboratory is accredited by Cgcre and qualified to calibrate the following instruments:
Sound Level Meter (decibel meter)
Octave-band analyzers
Octave-band and fractional octave-band filters
Sound Level Calibrator and Pistonphone
Audio Dosimeters
Microphones
Pre-Amplifiers
Audio Amplifiers*
