Domains of professional learning for IoC

There are three important areas of focus for professional learning for IoC include (i) Knowledge and understanding; (ii) Skills; and (iii) Values.

Knowledge and understanding

  • Knowledge across and within disciplines
  • Knowledge about teaching, learning and assessment
  • Knowledge about emerging paradigms of IoC, teaching and learning
  • Understanding of students diverse backgrounds and learning needs, etc.
  • Understanding of different layers of context of IoC (global, regional, national, institutional)
  • Understanding of professional standards and practices in the national and foreign context and in different organizational/institutional settings (e.g. contexts of performance in professions, emerging practices)

Skills 

  • Designing international, intercultural, global learning outcomes
  • Ability to employ a range of different pedagogies that will facilitate the development of intended learning outcomes.
  • Assessing students’ achievement of international, intercultural and global learning outcomes
  • Facilitating active intercultural learning
  • Collaborating and negotiating with diverse others, including colleagues, communities and students.
