Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) have decided to join efforts towards a common goal that is very dear to the people of Porto Alegre and Viamão: the revitalization of the Arroio Dilúvio Basin.
Taking the example of the revitalization of the Cheong Gye Cheon Stream, in Seoul, capital of South Korea, the project Arroio Dilúvio Basin: a possible future seeks to include the Arroio Dilúvio Basin more positively in the lives of the citizens of Porto Alegre. The aim is to make it a reference area not only in environmental preservation, but also for leisure and quality of life. Adding UFRGS and PUCRS academic input to the efforts of the Administrations of Porto Alegre and Viamão, two documents have been prepared: Conceptual Framework (document that identifies the problem, establishes the vision and values for the revitalization of the entire basin, details its guiding principles and indicates the thematic axes to be considered for the proposition of solutions) and the Plan of Action (document identifying the elements that must be assessed in a basic project, indicating activities, goals, schedule and estimated cost, reflecting the strategy for the revitalization of the basin; it identifies studies and data surveys to be accomplished and their relationship with ongoing actions and projects).
