Maria Isabel Bellini went to Queensland University of Technology and WADEM Congress 2019
From May 2 – 12, the professor of the Graduate Program in Social Work (PPGSS) and coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Group for Studies and Research in Labor, Health and Intersectoriality, Dr Maria Isabel Bellini, took part in a mission abroad at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), in Australia, through PUCRS-PrInt (Call 02/2019 – Work Missions Abroad). Bellini is working on the cooperation project The Hidden Matrix of Violence in Modern Times: Crisis of Otherness, Morale and Ethics, which is coordinated by Professor Ruth Gauer and embraced by the priority theme World in Motion: Individuals and Society.
Her mission abroad included a technical visit to QUT, one of the best universities in Australia. The institution ranks 18th in the QS Top 50 Under 50 years World Young University Rankings. “It is a reference for research into mental health, prevention and intervention in drug and alcohol addicts. It also stands out for its international practices, studies on disabilities, violence and development, community services, counseling and family-centered intervention, which have implications on the violation of human rights”, Maria Isabel says.
She also attended the Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine 2019, organized by the World Association of Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM), jointly with QUT. WADEM is a multidisciplinary professional association intended to provide evidence-based improvements to society through education, disaster and emergency health care as well as disaster reduction.
Cooperation possibilities
Both the host institution and the congress are devoted to working on areas that are in line with those of the research she develops at PUCRS under PUCRS-PrInt. Hence, the mission was intended to advance and increase the possibilities for agreements and begin work on the planning of an innovation environment involving both institutions. The initiatives are intended to advance the co-creation of responses and solutions for the critical needs of the population, especially the vulnerable populations and populations that are prone to violence, in an effort to blame all parties involved in learning and earn the PUCRS’ project a higher level of quality.
