The Graduate Program in Education of PUCRS (PPGEdu) was created in 1972, and has played a very important role in the production of specialists and researchers in Education working in several sectors of society. PPGEDU offers Master’s and Doctoral degrees.
The program’s teaching faculty comprises 14 permanent professors and 03 collaborating ones, serving as many as 110 students. It features 02 Research Centers: Center for Teaching and Research in Contexts and Processes of Basic Education (CEPCPEB) – this Center embraces 3 multidisciplinary research groups: Nucleus for Childhood (s) and Children Education Studies and Research (NEPIEI), Nucleus for Education, Culture, Environment and Society (NEAS) and the Nucleus for Learning and Inclusive Processes Studies and Research (NEPAPI). In addition to this Center, PPGEdu has the Higher Education Studies Center (CEES).
The Program’s lines of research are as follows: Training, Policies and Practices in Education; Person and Education; Theories and Culture in Education.
The program produces two Scientific Journals and an Academic Bulletin. They are as follows:
Revista Educação Qualis A2 and Revista Por Escrito Qualis B2. The Academic Bulletin is edited by students.
PPGEDU is one of the best programs in the country, having been awarded an outstanding grade by CAPES (Brazilian Federal Agency for Evaluation and Support of Higher Education).
