Luiza Reali Nazario discussed the influence of high-fat diet on Parkinson's Disease

Doctoral student Luiza Reali Nazario, of the School of Health and Life Sciences’ Graduate Program in Cellular and Molecular Biology (PPGBCM), delivered a presentation on her doctoral work at the Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM’2019), from Oct 12 – 16, in Barcelona (Spain). The presentation mirrors her research on the influence of high-fat diet on neuroinflammation and dopamine D2 receptor availability in an animal model (rats) of Parkinson’s disease.
The research employed specific radiotracers produced by the student in the laboratories of the University Medical Center Groningen, in the Netherlands, under the supervision of Erik de Vries. Nazarion has a degree from Pharmacy from PUCRS. She is being advised by Prof. Dr Rosane Souza da Silva, of the Laboratory of Neurochemistry and Psychopharmacology, and co-advised by Prof. Dr Cristina Maria Moriguchi Jeckel, with whom she began her studies in molecular imaging, when she did research at BraIns and with Study Group in Radiopharmacy.
Luiza will be awarded a degree from PUCRS and University of Groningen, in Holland, one of the top 100 universities on the planet, as shown in the THE World University Rankings. The European Nuclear Medicine Association Congress has major importance at the international level and was attended by over 6,000 people from all over the world.
