Event is to be held on May 25
PUCRS’ School of Medicine, in partnership with Fertilitat – Reproductive Medicine Center, will be hosting Carlos Simón Vallés MD, from Spain, for a conference on stem cells in reproductive medicine, on May 25. The event, which is open to everyone, is geared towards health care students, medical doctors, researchers and scientists. It will start at 11 AM, at the Irmão José Otão amphitheater, on the 2nd floor of São Lucas Hospital (Avenida Ipiranga, 6690 – Porto Alegre).
During the lecture, Dr. Vallés will be addressing reproductive medicine and the use of stem cells in gynecology. No early registration is required. However, School of Medicine students who wish to receive a certificate of attendance must send an email to [email protected], and enter their full name.
Simón has been invited by PUCRS’ School of Medicine professor and director of Fertilitat, Alvaro Petracco. Before delivering the lecture, the stem cells and reproductive medicine specialist will be visiting the Institute for Biomedical Research (IPB).
International Recognition
Carlos Simón Vallés is a Full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Valencia(Spain), Adjunct Professor at the University of Stanford and at the Baylor College of Medicine (USA) and the Scientific Director of biotechnology company Igenomix. He was the first to work with stem cells in Spain and designed several cell lines, which gave birth to a free access database, run by the University of Valencia.
Having written more than 408 scientific articles, his research has contributed to the progress of reproductive medicine. Among several awards he has won, lies the Distinguished Researcher Award, the highest recognition to be bestowed by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), in 2016.
