Professor Pedro Celiny and student Francielly Crestani went to Houston, Texas
The professor of the Graduate Program in Pediatrics and Child Health (PPGPSC), Dr Pedro Celiny Garcia, and PhD student Francielly Crestani attended the Pediatric Critical Care Summit of the Americas: 15th Latin American Congress of Pediatric Intensive Care (SLACIP) and 26th Pediatric Critical Care Colloquium (PCCC), in Houston, in the USA, from Nov 1 – 10, 2019. The event was promoted by the Latin American Society of Pediatric Intensive Care with the support of Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital.
PUCRS researchers took part in various activities, including meetings to promote exchange of experiences in research and clinical care developed at the centers. In their visit to the USA, they also attended lectures in different areas, as follows: trends in clinical practice in intensive care medicine; critical care in quality and safety; relevant ethical issues involving clinical cases; as well as discussions on clinical protocols.
Professor Pedro Celiny served as the moderator of a panel session selected for oral presentations and participated in the Assembly of the Latin American Society for Pediatric Intensive Care (SLACIP), which occurs every two years. The researchers also presented findings of an investigation developed by other graduate students working in the research group of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (UTIP) of the Graduate Program in Pediatrics and Child Health, coordinated by Garcia.
