The meeting strengthens research project from the School of Medicine on gastrointestinal surgery
On July 18 and 19, 2024, PUCRS received the committee of 12 Chinese doctors for the International China-Brazil Symposium. During the visit promoted by PUCRS’s Office for International Cooperation (ECI), the visitors were welcomed by the coordinator, Carla Bonan, by the Dean of the School of Medicine, Leonardo Pinto, and by professor of the Graduate Program in Medicine and Health Sciences, Claudio Mottin.
The committee comprised of officials from CKTrade and Victor Medical Instruments, partner companies for advanced medical equipment and surgical equipment, and doctors from Xiangya Hospital Central South University, The Fourth Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, Capital Medical University Beijing Friendship Hospital and The First Hospital of Hebei Medical University. The visitors had the opportunity to see spaces in the University that are a reference in teaching and research, like Tecnopuc, Living 360° and the São Lucas Hospital.
The International China-Brazil Symposium took place on July 19, in the auditorium of the Brain Institute, and was attended by various national and international speakers, such as the president of the Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, Antônio Carlos Valezi, and a doctor from the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, Wang Yong.
Aiming to promote an immersion of knowledge for the development of gastrointestinal health, the event explored trends and techniques with specialists from Brazil and from China. With lectures, panels and debates, they discussed innovation in minimally invasive surgical technology and the training of surgeons in bariatric and metabolic, colorectal and digestive surgery.
