Initiative targets undergraduate students
PUCRS will be offering 15 undergraduate courses taught entirely in English in the first semester of 2020. In an effort to enhance the internationalization of the Campus, this initiative will allow international students to adapt to the University’s everyday routine, as well as prepare Brazilian students for an increasingly global market.
In these courses, English is used as a means of instruction rather than an object of study. This means that the grammar of the language is not addressed in the curriculum as the evaluation of students mirror their understanding of the contents that are taught. Many of these courses are interdisciplinary and can be completed as an elective for students from different majors.
In addition to mastering the terminology of specific areas, international students doing an academic mobility program at PUCRS can register for these courses. Brazilian students who are interested in signing up for the academic mobility program or have returned from their study abroad program and want to continue practicing the language are eligible, too.
