Result shows progress of institution in main evaluation indicators
The 2020 edition of THE World University Ranking, published on Wednesday, Sept 11, features PUCRS as the best private university in the south of Brazil. The institution ranks 2nd among the private institutions in the country, right behind PUC-Rio. It ranks 11th in a list that includes private and public universities. According to the international survey, the institution fared better in the categories Teaching, Research, Citations and Industry Income indicators when compared to the previous year. Overall, PUCRS stayed between 801-1000, in a list that includes almost 1,400 universities from 92 countries.
The Vice President of Undergraduate Studies and Continuing Education, Br. Manuir Mentges, claims that these numbers mirror the University’ continuous efforts of improvement and all the investments that have been made. “Being recognized in one of the most respected university rankings across the globe shows that we are on the right track to providing our students with excellent teaching and resources, and that the efforts we made to bringing the quality of our faculty to a higher level have been successfully accomplished.”
The Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies, Dr Carla Bonan, claims that this privileged position in the country translates the institutional commitment to fostering quality research at the international level. “To be in a ranking of this caliber is a major collective achievement for our researchers. It embraces undergraduate research, graduate programs and postdoctoral projects as well as international and inter-institutional cooperation that we seek to expand and improve each year. ”, she says.
