Cooperation efforts to be made in the area of health care

PUCRS opened its doors to a delegation of the French Embassy on Mar 1. French Ambassador to Brazil, Michel Miraillet and other official representatives were welcomed at the Great Hall by the President, Br. Evilázio Teixeira. At the ceremony, Br. Evilázio made mention to the existing partnerships between PUCRS and French institutions – today there are 36 agreements in effect –, and the development of collaborative efforts between the two countries. Mr Miraillet demonstrated his interest in cooperating with Brazil, especially in the area of health care. He talked about joint research possibilities and commended the outstanding research projects of Brazil in the area of pharmacology.
The French representatives also paid a visit to PUCRS’ Science and Technology Park (Tecnopuc), as they were introduced to the model of operation that draws on the French mission in the 1990s, which propelled the creation of Tecnopuc. They had the chance to visit some pharmaceutical companies and, according to Dr Rafael Prikladnicki, Tecnopuc’s director, Tecnopuc is interest in attracting French companies and industries, especially those working in the area of health care. “Their visit is very important to strengthen the existing ties and to bring them to a higher level, especially when it comes to working with French companies”, said Prikladnicki.
The delegation featured the following representatives: The Consul General of the French Republic in São Paulo, Brieuc Pont; the Advising Minister and Head of the Regional Economic Service of the Embassy, Jean-Claude Bernard; the Honorary Consul for the French Republic to Porto Alegre, Roner Guerra Fabirs; the Regional Delegate of the French Development Agency for Brazil and Argentina, Philippe Orlianges; the Vice Director of teh French Institute in Brazil, Perrine Warme-Janville, and the Attaché for Cooperation and Cultural Action and Director of Alliance Française in Porto Alegre, Patrice Pauc.
The delegation was also welcomed by Senior Vice President, Prof. Jaderson Costa da Costa, by the Superintendent of Innovation and Development of PUCRS, Dr Jorge Audy, by the Director of Tecnopuc, Dr Rafael Prikladnicki and by the Dean of International and Institutional Affairs (AAII), Dr Heloísa Delgado.
