Promoted by Idear, the Discovery of Purpose Trail, recognized in the ranking, addresses entrepreneurial competences from gamification
The Discovery of Purpose Trail, a free course promoted by PUCRS’s Interdisciplinary Lab for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Idear), was nominated as a finalist in the Reimagine Education Awards, a highly relevant international award in the field of Education. On this edition, PUCRS is competing in the Nurturing Wellbeing and Purpose Award category, which encompasses projects that help promote physical and mental wellbeing, as well as clarity of purpose among professors, students and others who are interested in education.
This year, the award process included over 1.100 submissions, in 18 categories, e only 198 projects were selected for the final stage of the ranking. PUCRS’s undergraduate director, Denizar Melo, notes that the project’s classification among the finalists is an important milestone for the University.
“It brings us pride and satisfaction, because we are certain the actions in favor of pedagogical innovations are on the right track,” highlights Denizar.
According to Naira Libermann, Idear’s coodinator, the Reimagine Education Awards rewards in innovative approaches which improve students’ learning results.
“We ended up among the world finalists and our biggest reward is this international acknowledgement on a project which delivers value to our students. The Discovery of Purpose Trail was created especially for our students: we hope that, stemming from their discoveries, they may become transforming actors in their own lives and the context they live in,” highlights Naira.
The award cerimony will take place between December 5th and December 8th, in Cairo, Egypt. It is also possible to watch the celebration online, through the link https://www.reimagine-education.com/.
Free and open to all, the Discovery of Purpose Trail was idealized to offer a unique, interactive and innovative experience. Developed in partnership with the Online Undergraduate Studies Coordination (PROGRAD-EAD), the trail took place online, in the form of a game, and counted as 20 complementary hours for the students.
Those who participate must create a character (avatar) to start an adventure. In this story, in which the animation is divided in chapters, the character mysteriously wakes up on a desert island without knowing what happened and with all their memories fragmented. Then, the participant must answer reflection and self-awareness exercises, with the goal of finding themselves, working as a team in order to solve the mystery and find out their own purpose.
PUCRS’s Interdisciplinary Lab for Entrepreneurship and Innovation encourages and raises awareness among students, professors and the community towards entrepreneurship, through activities, events, workshops and marathons.
Idear encourages an interdisciplinary entrepreneurship and innovative atitude with a positive impact on society. We do this by gathering all of the fields of knowledge on behalf of the education of people who propose solutions that can change the world.
