Daniele Lindern attended classes and developed project at PUC Chile professor
Daniele Lindern, a PhD student in the School of Health and Life Sciences’ Graduate Program in Psychology, completed a mobility program at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, in Santiago, in October. The visit served for her to work on the analysis of data and articles in support of her dissertation. In addition to being advised by other professors at the Graduate Program in Psychology at the Chilean institution, the student met her co-advisor at PUC-Chile, Professor Christian Berger. She also attended some graduate-level classes and lectures at the university.
The dissertation, entitled Clima escolar e preconceito contra diversidade sexual e de gênero nas escolas (School climate and prejudice against sexual and gender diversity in schools), intends to study the association between school climate prejudice against sexual and gender diversity. “We know that in other countries, more discrimination will result in a negative school climate in schools. This characterizes a negative environment not only for LGBT people, but for the entire school community,” Daniele says.
For Dr Carolina Lisboa, her advisor at PUCRS, doing an exchange has great relevance for research. “For our graduate program, internationalization is of utmost importance, as we are big in this area. Daniele’s experience was extremely relevant. She completed the program with the support of Professor Christian Berger who works with our research group,”she said.
Dr Christian Berger holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Illinois, USA. He serves as Deputy Director of Research and Graduate Studies at the School of Psychology of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
