Institutions have cooperated since 2018
The President of Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE), Tim Loreman, and the Director of the Center for Innovation and Research of the institution, Isha Katyal came to PUCRS on Apr 22. They were welcomed at the Great Hall of the President’s Office by Br Evilázio Teixeira. This is the second time Loreman comes to PUCRS.
At the meeting, Loreman showed interest in continuing working together with PUCRS, especially after an agreement was officiated in 2018. The existing partnership with Pró-Mata has made it possible for the institution to open its doors to CUE researchers since 2016. A new group is expected to come in May 2019. On top of that, the bilateral academic mobility agreement makes it possible for PUCRS students to spend a semester in Canada, and for Canadian students to come to Porto Alegre.
The President of the Canadian university was also interested in learning more about what has been done at the Science and Technology Park of PUCRS (Tecnopuc), as this kind of initiative is yet to be explored in Canada. During their visit to PUCRS, Loreman and Isha did a tour of the park, in the company of the director of the Center for Scientific and Technological Development (IDEIA), Dr Eduardo Giugliani. The visitors also attended a meeting at the Office for International Cooperation in the presence of the Executive Coordinator Dr Heloísa Delgado and did a tour of the Main Library Br. José Otão Main Library.
