Reverend Miguel Móran and Moisés Martínez met with University's officials and visited University's facilities
PUCRS opened its doors, from May 8 – 11, to the Most Reverend Miguel Móran and Dr Moisés Martinez, from Universidad Católica de El Salvador (Unicaes). Visitors were welcomed at the Great Hall by the President Br. Evilázio Teixeira and took part in several activities throughout the week.
The visit included tours around the Science and Technology Park (Tecnopuc), Brain Institute of Rio Grande do Sul, São Lucas Hospital , Science and Technology Museum and the Marist Social Center (Cesmar). It also included meetings involving representatives of the School of Medicine, School of Humanities and School of Technology, who sought to bring both institutions closer together.
Morán spoke about the economic challenges, the current scenario of higher education and the social context of El Salvador. He claims that the visit was intended for them to find out more about the actions that have been taking place at PUCRS, strengthen the ties between the universities and also to learn about the good practices to be replicated in their university.
As Unicaes still does not have any doctoral programs, visitors met with the Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies, Dr Carla Bonan, and with the Dean of Graduate Programs, Dr Christian Kristensen, in order to find out more about PUCRS’ graduate programs. Representatives of the Office of the Vice president for Research and Graduate Studies (Propesq) discussed the possibilities of brining both institutions closer together and the interest in supporting the Universidad de El Salvador in implementing new graduate programs, in line with the principle of social responsibility and fellowship actions of the University.
After returning to El Salvador, the delegation is expected to work together with representatives of PUCRS in order to consolidate the partnerships.
