On Friday, Nov 19, Polish Ambassador, Jakub Skiba, was welcomed at the President’s Office by the President Br. Dr Evilázio Teixeira. Skiba was in the presence of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Porto Alegre, Sergio Jose Sechinski, and the president of the Polish Catholic Mission in Brazil, Rev. Zdzislaw Malczewski. The members of the delegation had the chance to learn a little more about the work developed at the University, and talk about possibilities for international cooperation.
They were welcomed by the Advisor for Inter-Institutional Relations, Solimar Amaro, the Advisor for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Carla Bonan, and the Administrative Coordinator of the Office of International Cooperation, Mrs. Sandra Mino. After the meeting at the President’s Office, visitors went to the Office for International Cooperation and visited the Science and Technology Park of PUCRS (Tecnopuc).
The evening of Nov 19 was marked by a concert by the Polish pianist Raphael Lustchevsky at the Cristo Mestre University Church. The artist’s visit to PUCRS was made possible though a partnership between the Polish Embassy in Brazil and PUCRS’ Institute of Culture. The recital featured works by Szymanowski, Chopin and Addinsell in reference to the Ambassador’s visit to Rio Grande do Sul and the University’s 73rd anniversary.
