Research on internationalization of Higher Education brings PUCRS and the British university together
On Thursday, May 18, PUCRS’ President, Br. Evilázio Teixeira, and the Vice President, Jaderson Costa da Costa, hosted professors Sue Robson, Steve Walsh and Joana Filipa Almeida, from Newcastle University. The researchers came to Porto Alegre for the seminar Internationalisation of Higher Education in the UK and Brazil: A partnership between Newcastle University and PUCRS, on May 16, consolidating the academic partnership between the two institutions.
A group of researchers from PUCRS, including professors Alexandre Anselmo Guilherme and Marilia Morosini, from the Graduate Program in Education of the School of Humanities (PPGEdu), has been working in partnership with Newcastle University (UK), since 2016. The British university is part of the Russel Group, a network of 24 leading British universities.
This week’s seminar, sponsored by the Higher Education Study Center (CEES), of the School of Humanities, discussed, among other things, internationalization in terms of British and Brazilian research networks, the promotion of reflection on both research and teaching and institutional practices through exchanges and the support to interaction, production and the dissemination of knowledge on internationalization of Higher Education.
One of the actions presented in the event was internationalization at home for teaching and research, that is, without the need to travel abroad. This is a reality in Europe and may be something new for academic curricula in Brazil.
