Evilázio Teixeira takes office as President, along with Jaderson da Costa, the new Vice President

The inaugural ceremony of PUCRS’ new President and Vice President will take place on December 9, at 10:30 am, at the University’s Events Center, building 41 of Main Campus (Avenida Ipiranga, 6681 – Porto Alegre). Current Vice President, Evilázio Teixeira will succeed current President Joaquim Clotet. Jaderson da Costa, current director of the Brain Institute of Rio Grande do Sul (InsCer/RS) will serve as Vice President. Both have been appointed by the President of the Rede Marista, and nominated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Porto Alegre, Dom Jaime Spengler, the University’s Chancellor. The ceremony will mark the induction of new members of Higher Administration; the Deans and Associate Deans of the new Schools of Law, Medicine and Business; the Dean and Associate Deans of the School of Humanities; directors of Schools, Institutes and Supplementary Departments.
Before the ceremony, at 9 am, a mass will be celebrated at the Cristo Mestre University Church, on PUCRS Main Campus.

Br. Evilázio has completed three Bachelor’s degrees (Theology, Philosophy and Law), two Teaching degrees, two Master’s degrees and two Doctorates (one in Theology and another in Philosophy, completed in Italy), as well as courses on university management, an internships in Canada and, more recently, a course on leadership and business from the University of Georgetown (Washington, USA). He has served as Director of PUCRS’ Pastoral and Solidarity Center, and Vice President of the University for twelve years.
Prof. Jaderson Costa has a degree in Medicine, is a Specialist in Neurology, has a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences (Physiology and Neurosciences), a PhD in Biological Sciences (Physiology) and did a Research Fellowship in Neurology (Clinical Neurophysiology) at Harvard Medical School. He has been a faculty member of PUCRS for 44 years. He is currently a Professor of the School of Medicine, an Associate Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami, and Director of the Brain Institute of RS (InsCer/RS). A LIFE OF RECOGNITION
Br. Joaquim Clotet’s 12-year cycle as a President of the University is coming to an end. He has been recognized for his dedication to keeping PUCRS among the most renowned educational institutions in our country. During his term, the University has seen an exponential growth in terms of research, innovation, entrepreneurship and internationalization.
