Authorities from the German Consulate, DAAD, UFRGS and PUCRS discussed strategies put in place until 2018 and plan activities for 2019
Just before its second anniversary, the Center of European and German Studies (CDEA) welcomed Germany’s Consul General Thomas Schmitt for a meeting with his Higher Council (Beirat) on February 18th in order to discuss strategies put in place until 2018 and plan activities for the current year. Among the attendants were PUCRS’ President Brother Evilázio Teixeira and its Senior Vice President, Jaderson Costa da Costa, UFRGS’ President Rui Oppermann, the head of Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Brazil, Martina Schulze, the head of CDEA, Claudia Lima Marques, and the Deputy Director of the Center, Draiton de Souza Gonzaga.
Besides reviewing the actions of CDEA in its first two years, with events, lectures and mini courses fostering internationalization and the relationship between Brazil and Germany, new goals were also discussed. Among the plans for 2019 is the Humboldt-Kolleg Conference on the theme: “Neuroscience and Humanities: is mutual learning possible?” (Neuro-und Geisteswissenschaften: Was können sie voneinander lernen?), which will take place at PUCRS on May 15-17, 2019. More information on the event will be released shortly.
