The material is part of the partnership between PUCRS and the Great North Museum
An entertaining video on fossils, a joint action from the partnership between PUCRS Science and Technology Museum (MCT-PUCRS) and the Great North Museum: Hancock (GNM), from Newcastle University (UK), will be shown during the exhibit Bones: Skeleton Secrets of the Animal World, until May 14, at the British museum.
In the video, GNM’s mascot, Albany, and MCT-PUCRS’ mascot, EuGênio, perform the song The Fossil Song, as they explain the emergence and the process of fossil formation. You can watch the video by clicking here. The educational teams and curators from both museums have been working together on the British exhibit. The partnership also resulted in the exhibit Marcas da Evolução, which will be shown at MCT-PUCRS in this first semester. The conception of the projects is intended to raise the public’s awareness on the evolutionary process based on environmental changes on our planet.
International partnership
The partnership between PUCRS and Newcastle University was made possible from the project Institutional Skills 2015-2016, promoted by the British Council, and sponsored by the Newton Fund, one of the most important funding and development sources for research and innovation in the United Kingdom.
Both universities have worked together on the project The use of museums scientific collections for teaching evolution and understanding of environmental changes from the ecomuseologic perspective, which resulted in educational and museographic actions for the exhibits. The partnership includes teaching, research and extension activities at the universities, for both the academic community and the external public.
