The establishment of an international network of observatory was a topic of discussion
On May 23, PUCRS’ Youth Observatory opened its doors to Br. Carlos Alberto Rojas Carvajal (Colombia) and Mark Omede (Nigeria), who are the current leaders of the Mission’s Secretariat at the Marist Institute’s General House in Rome. In the morning, the Brothers visited the Youth Observatory and met with members of the Pastoral and Solidarity Center. During the meeting, Perondi urged for the need to give special attention to diversity and to the youths’ own traits. “That’s why it is very important to work together in order for us to conduct projects and actions that can contribute to the provision of better conditions for the youth, who is now the most vulnerable social group”, said he.
After that, they had lunch with the President, Br. Evilázio Teixeira, Vice Presient, Jaderson Costa da Costa and other members of the higher administration. Then, Br. Carlos Rojas brought up the idea to establish an International Marist Network of Youth Observatories. He stressed that “the establishment of academic connections with the kids’ and youths’ worlds will also be addressed in a project to be conducted by the Marist Universities together”. He mentioned that the project will be run by the Mission’s Secretariat, along with the Youth Observatories of PUCPR and PUCRS.
During their visit to PUCRS, the Brothers checked out the Main Library, the Science and Technology Museum (MCT), the Science and Technology Park (Tecnopuc), Raiar Business Incubator and the Champagnat School. They also visited São Lucas Hospital (HSL), the Sports Park and the Brain Institute (BraIns).
The secretariat is a strategic exponent of the General Government of the Marist Network used for the operation, reinforcement and strengthening of actions of the Marist Mission at all levels of the Marist Institute. It is responsible for contributing to loyalty and development of the Marist Mission with creativity, boldness and dissemination.
