PUCRS' laboratory involved in renewable energies and energy efficiency project
The Brazil-Germany cooperation for sustainable development earned PUCRS a visit by Inmetro and by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), the German Metrology Institute, to its Electrical and Electronics Testing Laboratory (Labelo). Gabriele Cassol, Head Coordinator of the International Partnerships of Inmetro/Caint, and Lieselotte Seehausen, of PTB’s Division of International Cooperation, had the chance to visit the scope and infrastructure of Labelo and of the Center for Excellence in Street Lighting (CEIP). They commended the excellence of the energy efficiency programs offered.
During their visit to PUCRS, they discussed the German project for Brazil Strengthening the Quality Infrastructure for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, developed in partnership with Inmetro. The project is intended to strengthen the development of renewable sources of energy and improve the energy efficiency of products in order to contribute to the successful implementation of national policies.
For Labelo’s quality coordinator, Carlos José Rupp Bindé Junior, Labelo’s expectations for the project are high. “In their view, our contribution would be conditioned to the Laboratory’s capacity to offer support for the modernization of public lighting parks for LED technology, which are currently provided by local governments”, says he.
