PUCRS is offering pocket shows, bike rides and food trucks throughout the month of August
PUCRS has put together a number of activities for the reception of freshmen and senior year students throughout the month of August. Among the attractions, there are food trucks, bamboo bicycles and electric cars to be used for tours around Campus. Every week, a pocket show features talents from the University, staff members and professors to students and alumni.
The first show, on Aug 4, featured an employee of the School of Communications, a Law School professor, and former Business School students who played Guns N’ Roses and Oasis, among other bands. The second show, on Aug 10, featured the same trio, who performed Brazilian pop rock songs.
Exchange students were there to check out the activities and enjoyed them. “It was a magic atmosphere at PUCRS. For me was something very different that I had never seen in Italy. I’m finding this university more and more exciting each day! And I really enjoyed the live music”, says Maria Laura Grilli. She came from University of Parma to study at Law School.
For Livenghtston Analdo Cius, from University of Central Florida, the show was an opportunity to know more exchange students. “This makes the university happy and brings a smile upon our faces. PUCRS is the happiest university on the planet!”, commends he who came to study at the Engineering School.
When Heliodoro Flores Neri, from University of Celaya, first arrived in Brazil to study at the Business School, he could not string a sentence together in Portuguese and, as he interacted with other students he improved each day. “There is no doubt that Porto Alegre is a great city e people at PUCRS are the nicest hosts to foreign students”, says.
Overall, the activities brought together 12 students from Gemany, USA, France, Italy, Mexico and Portugal. This semester the University opens its doors to 39 exchange students from Austria, Colombia, France, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, UK and USA.
On Aug 30, the President Br. Evilázio Teixeira, and the Vice President, Jaderson Costa da Costa, will get together with students, from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and from 7:00 PM top 7:30 PM, over by the garden across from building 15. This will be an opportunity to collect school materials, educational games and toys for donation.
