Students from partner universities in Europe, Latin America and Asia join the student body
Through academic mobility agreements, established by the Office for International Cooperation, students from seven countries arrive to carry out part of their undergraduate studies at PUCRS in this new semester. Mexico, France, Austria, South Korea, Sweden, Italy and England are their countries of origin.
To welcome the new students, an orientation seminar was organized, where they had the opportunity to learn more about the university and its facilities. They were shown PUCRS’s learning spaces, such as Tecnopuc, the Irmão José Otão Main Library and the Science and Technology Museum.
During the event, the new students met the participants of the University Buddy Program, an initiative where PUCRS students become local partners, contributing to the process of sociocultural adaptation and academic integration. In addition, the international students are also going to go on a tour around Porto Alegre, seeing the city’s main attractions.
At PUCRS, the students will be able to take part in research projects, through International Undergraduate Research, participate in volunteering activities organized by the Office of the Vice President for Institutional Identity, take classes on Portuguese for foreigners, in addition to being in contact with globally renowned teachers and researchers. These practices turn PUCRS’s academic environment into a plural and diverse space, acquiring new knowledge through collectivity, creating a global community.
