Reception activities included guided tour around Campus, lectures and sessions with buddy program’s partners
PUCRS welcomed the new international students with a rich welcome program on July 31 and August 1. This semester the University opens its doors to 39 exchange students from Austria, Colombia, France, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, UK and USA. They joined on a guided around on Campus, visited the Main Library, Global Tecnopuc and the Sports Park. The students also attended to lectures with representatives of the Careers Office and the Chief of Military Brigade. On the second day, they eventually met the buddy program’s partners, undergraduate and graduate students whom they have been paired up with in order to get acclimated to their new life at PUCRS.
Lea Fischer came from Bremen University, Germany, to study at Business School for one year. “After my exchange at Londrina in 2012/2013, it was clear to me that I needed to come back to Brazil. I applied at Hochschule Bremen for an Arts Global Management program because I could do an internship here. It is very important for me to be at PUCRS, since I plan to live in Brazil for some years. My dream is to work for an international company here”, says Lea.
She chose PUCRS due to its reputation in Germany. “It is one of the best universities in Brazil. My professors recommended I came here. They commended the Campus, the variety of courses and the faculty. I think studying at PUCRS will help me to the open doors to my future here.”
Margarida Serrano, from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Portugal, is also a new international student. She is going to spend one semester at the School of Communication. “As an exchange student, I seek changes and the contact with a university like PUCRS is surely encouraging”, tells she.
