Last week, PUCRS welcomed Stellenbosch University professor, Dr. Christle de Beer. She is in the project Dynamics of Innovation Ecosystems in Developing Countries under the CAPES/COOPBRASS program, in partnership with Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia), Unisinos and UFRGS. The aim of the project is to show how governance dynamics occur in innovation ecosystems in developing countries.

The visitor came to the Office for International Cooperation of PUCRS in the company of Business School professors Dr. Edimara Luciano, Dr. Frederike Mette and Dr. Lucas Roldan. She had the chance to learn a little more about the structure of the University and its partners in different countries.

The visit of the South African professor resumed the project that was on hold during the pandemic. “The COOPBRAS projects focus on the global south, that is, on developing more of the local knowledge and less of the global north knowledge applied in the south. Knowledge of the global north does not always consider things such as infrastructure, culture and modus operandi, of the countries of the global south”, Edimara explains.

Following Christle de Beer’s visit, new PhD students are expected to do a research internship in South Africa and Colombia, and publish articles on the discussion of social innovation from a global south perspective.
