Event marked the end of the first semester of 2018

To mark the end of the scholastic semester and the farewell to the 45 international students from different countries who came to PUCRS in the first semester of 2018, PUCRS put together a traditional Festa Junina for the students at the Leisure Center, on Jun 28. The academic mobility students had the chance to try some of the most typical foods of the party, such as quentão, pine nuts, paçoquinha and popcorn.
A video featuring the students’ best moments throughout the semester was presented. Pictures were sent by the University Buddies, who were paired up with international students during they stay in Porto Alegre. In the beginning of the semester, during the orientation seminar, they wrote their expectations for the academic semester at PUCRS in a time capsule. At the festa junina, they got them all back. The Arraial, a traditional Brazilian celebration in June, was offered by the Office for Academic Cooperation‘s Academic Mobility team.
Now, the University is getting ready to welcome the new group of students who will be coming for the second semester of 2018. A course entitled Portuguese for International Students, that is offered two weeks before the official beginning of classes, has been remodeled and now features several language and culture activities.
