Event to address advances and challenges in collaborative actions with international institutions
An analysis of the multifaceted role of internationalization in the 21st century and its impact on the production of knowledge is the theme of the first edition of Conexões Internacionais (Portuguese Website), on Sep 27, 2018. Brought to you by the Office for International Cooperation, this year’s event will focus on research, its advances and challenges.
With the active involvement of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies (Propesq), the program features lectures, successful cases as well as exchanges of experiences in an effort to define international research, how it is done and the consequences of internationalization in academic terms. Graduate students will also be invited to share their international experiences. The event will also feature three simultaneous sessions: Health and Human Development; World in Motion: Individuals and Society, and Technology and Biodiversity: Sustainability, Energy and the Environment. In these sessions, researchers from distinct areas will be sharing their achievements and progresses.
The Centro ítalo Brasileiro de Assistência e Instrução as Migrações (Italian-Brazilian Center for Assistance and Isntruction to Migrations) will be collecting non perishable food and personal hygiene items to be donated to migrants and refugees arriving in Porto Alegre as a condition for admission. There are limited seats. The event has been planned for the academic community of Brazil.

– Holly Cowman, International Relations Director Mary Immaculate College (Ireland). She will be presenting the conference Ireland and Brasil: Initiatives to consolidate internationalization of higher education. (In English)
– Marcelo Távora, Dean of International Affairs at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUCPR). He will be talking about the challenges of international research today and the relationship between quality/impact of research and its level of internationalization. (In Portuguese)
– Dr Jorge Audy, Superintendent for Innovation and Development of PUCRS. He will be addressing the importance of international cooperation for research of excellence. (In Portuguese)
