Role of universities for socioeconomic development of countries under discussion
PUCRS opened its doors to the Consul General of Spain, Francisco de Asís Benítez Salas, on Oct 26. The reception featured the President of PUCRS, Br. Evilázio Teixeira; the Senior Vice President, Prof. Jaderson Costa da Costa; the Head of the President’s Office, Prof. Alexander Bernardes Goulart; and the Administrative Coordinator of the Office of International and Institutional Affairs, Sandra Beatriz Mino Becker.
The role of universities to the socioeconomic development of countries and PUCRS’ position in national and international rankings were some of the topics discussed. The Consul stressed that the Consulate of Spain is available to PUCRS since the University is admired as it is keen to fulfill its social role in contributing to the development of the country.
PUCRS and Spain have kept bilateral agreements with more than 30 universities. Similarly, several undergraduate and graduate students have the chance to go on academic mobility programs in both countries.
