Social issues and sustainability are the main areas of interest in cooperation
On Nov 8, PUCRS welcomed the Ambassador of Austria, Irene Giner-Reichl. She was in the presence of her husband Reinhard Giner. They were welcomed by the Senior Vice President, Dr Jaderson Costa da Costa. The diplomat showed interest in working with the University in different areas, including: environmental sciences, renewable energies, public security and civil protection.
The Senior Vice President, in the presence of the Dean of the School of Humanities and Vice Director of the Center for European and German Studies (CDEA), Dr Draiton Gonzaga de Souza, and the Dean of International Cooperation, Dr Heloísa Delgado, gave examples of projects and research groups involved in areas that are of interest to her. These included, among other things, the actions of the Center for Environmental Research and Conservation – Pró-Mata.
Costa da Costa mentioned that the institution is now turning 70 years old and is committed to bringing the university and the community together. He enlisted the services and projects that are intended to bring improvements to society, thus reinforcing the importance of applied research. The Senior Vice president showed interest in increasing the mobility of faculty and students with the country and international cooperation in research. The ambassador made herself available to make it happen.
