Former Master's and PhD students who studied in Germany had the chance to learn about new research opportunities
50 Master’s and PhD students, as well as Postdoc researchers who studied in German universities paid a visit to the Center for European and German Studies (CDEA – UFRGS/PUCRS). The event, which was offered on Jun 6, was intended to bring the alumni together and show them new study and research opportunities that are now made possible with the opening of CDEA in Apr 2017, on the 6th floor of Building 5 of PUCRS.
Claudia Lima Marques, CDEA’s Director and UFRGS Professor, spoke about the activities to be carried out at the Center, which include the promotion of publications and translations, events in partnership with the consulate, visits by German professors and the implementation of a major in European and German Law int he Graduate Program in Law at the Federal University. Furthermore, she mentioned two programs offered by the Center and that are geared towards Master’s and PhD students as well as researchers. In 2017, CDEA will offer the 8th Brazil-Germany Symposium of Sustainable Development, featuring human impacts: challenges for society and Science.
The Consul General for Germany in Porto Alegre, Stefan Traumann, was there too and addressed the efforts that have been made for the promotion of integration and exchange of experiences between the alumni of PUCRS and UFRGS. In addition to that, Traumann mentioned the importance of CDEA in helping researchers to find solutions for problems that are affecting Europe, such as the financial and migrant crises.
Among the authorities who attended the event are the President of PUCRS, Br. Evilázio Teixeira, Dr. Draiton Gonzaga de Souza, CDEA’s Vice Director and the Dean of the School of Humanities of PUCRS, as well as Rui Vicente Oppermann, President of UFRGS. The visit was organized by the Consulate General of Germany for Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, in partnership with the Center for European and German Studies.
After the visit to the Center for European and German Studies (CDEA – UFRGS/PUCRS), the Consul General for Germany in Porto Alegre, Stefan Traumann, paid a visit to the Brain Institute of Rio Grande do Sul (BraIns). The Consul was welcomed by the Vice President of PUCRS and Director of InsCer, Jaderson Costa da Costa, and by researcher Magda Lahorgue Nunes, Vice Director of Inscer. In the company of Draiton Gonzaga de Souza, Traumann went to the Radiopharmaceuticals Production Center (CPR) and to the Imaging Center. They used the opportunity to discuss partnerships and collaborations between the Brain Institute and German research centers and companies.
