The university maintains partnerships with eight Italian institutions and strengthens cultural and academic ties
On November 18, PUCRS welcomed the Italian committee led by President of the Veneti nel Mondo Association, Aldo Rozzi Marin, consisting of Director of the Ilópolis Bread Museum, Ismael Rosset, and Project Coordinator at AAMoinhos, Luciane Predabon. In honor of the 150th anniversary of Italian immigration in Brazil, the group was welcomed by Coordinator of the Office For International Cooperation (ECI), professor Carla Bonan, by professors from the School of Humanities and the Graduate Program in History, Antonio de Ruggiero and Claudia Musa Fay, and by professors from the School of Technology, Maria Alice Medeiros Dias and Raquel Rodrigues Lima.
The meeting aimed to strengthen partnerships and collaborate on initiatives that promote the appreciation of the history, culture, and language of the Veneto-descendant communities in Rio Grande do Sul. During the meeting, they discussed possibilities of academic and cultural cooperation, including research projects, as well as cultural and academic mobility.
For over 10 years, PUCRS has maintained an academic and scientific cooperation partnership with 8 Italian institutions. Since 2021, more than 60 students from PUCRS carried out academic mobility in renowned Italian universities, such as the Università Degli Studi Di Messina, University of Molise, and University of Trento. In addition, during this same period, students from the Università degli Studi di Parma and from the University of Trento came to PUCRS.
The Italian universities that are PUCRS partners, such as the Università di Pisa, are internationally renowned for their academic excellence. The Università di Padova, PUCRS partner since 2021, was founded in 1222 and is one of the oldest in Europe, and stands out for its research in various fields of knowledge.
