International visit promotes new research and teaching partnerships between Spain and PUCRS

Visit from professor integrates Institutional Project of Internationalization (CAPES-PrInt)

PUCRS welcomed professor Felipe Hernandes Coutinho, renowned researcher of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Spain’s main research institution. A specialist in Genetics and with extensive international background, Coutinho visited the university to discuss possible scientific collaborations and to strengthen academic ties.

The visit, promoted by the Office for International Cooperation (ECI), included meetings with PUCRS researches to explore opportunities of joint research, especially in themes related to sustainability and to environmental impacts caused by human activity. His journey includes institutions such as the University of Alicante and the Institut de Ciènces del Mar, in Spain, in addition to Utrecht and Radboudumc, in the Netherlands.

PUCRS and Spanish Universities

PUCRS maintains a solid academic mobility relationship with various Spanish universities, promoting the exchange of students and researchers. Between 2021 and 2024, the university sent 46 students to renowned institutions in Spain, such as the Autonomous University of Madrid, the Catholic University of Valencia and the International University of Catalonia, among others. It has also welcomed students from universities such as the Pontifical University of Salamanca and the University of Lleida. These exchanges reinforce the internationalization of PUCRS, expanding the opportunities to share knowledge and academic experiences between Brazil and Spain, as well as opportunities of collaboration in research and scientific development.
