In February, Soraia Musse went to Paris to strengthen ties and to prospect new projects
Professor from PUCRS’s School of Technology Soraia Raupp Musse went on a ten-day work mission at Sorbonne Université, in France, through PUCRS’s CAPES-PrInt Program (PUCRS-PrInt). The professor went back to the French university to carry out projects and to plan future studies with French researcher and computer scientist Catherine Pelachaud, in the priority theme Technology and Biodiversity: Sustainability, Energy and the Environment.
During this partnership of over five years between the professors, they have developed joint researches, co-advised students and established opportunities of sandwich doctorates of PUCRS students, in the French institution. During the mission, which took place in February this year, Soraia was able to have work meetings, participate in lectures and visit the CNRS – ISIR Laboratory, in the UPMC Campus.
The partnership between PUCRS and Sorbonne Université began when the PUCRS professor advised a doctorate student who would develop a research with crowd simulation (professor Soraia’s field), but the thesis aimed to relate to the area of emotion in virtual characters. From then on, contact was made with researcher Catherine and the connection strengthened, resulting in scientific publications and joint advising.
Among recent actions, we can highlight the sandwich doctorate by student Victor Flavio de Andrade Araújo at Sorbonne Université, supported by PUCRS-PrInt. Advised by Soraia and co-advised by Catherine, the PhD student is a part of the Graduate Program in Computer Science, as well as being co-advised by professor Angelo Brandelli, from the Graduate Program in Psychology (PUCRS).
In addition to visiting Sorbonne Université, Soraia Musse also visited the Computer Science Laboratory, from the École Polytechnique (LIX), and is organizing a new partnership with this research Laboratory which is also a part of CNRS.
